Haaland, Yamal and Mbappe headline a dramatic weekend in Europe
The biggest stars of European football once again took centre stage over the weekend, with Erling Haaland, Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane among those making headlines.
In the Premier League, Manchester City claimed a dramatic and controversial victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday. Despite being reduced to 10 men, City held on for a crucial win, with Haaland scoring the decisive goal.
City's victory also made history, as they became the first visiting side to win 10 Premier League matches at Old Trafford.
While City celebrated, Arsenal continued their perfect start, beating Sunderland 2-0 for their fourth straight league victory. The result extended their Premier League winning streak to nine games, their longest since 2004.
Elsewhere, Liverpool were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw by Fulham, extending their run of home draws at Anfield to four matches. Chelsea also dropped points after a 2-2 draw with Hull, although Morgan Rogers maintained his impressive individual form by scoring or assisting in each of Chelsea's opening four league games.
Haaland horror for United
Haaland has now become the top scorer in Premier League Manchester derbies, moving another step closer to the all-time record.
The Norwegian is just one goal away from matching Manchester City legends Francis Lee and Joe Hayes for the club's most Manchester derby goals in all competitions. He is also only two behind Wayne Rooney's overall derby record of 11.
Morgan Gibbs-White's consistent run
One of the weekend's quieter star performances came from Morgan Gibbs-White.
The Nottingham Forest midfielder has now either scored or assisted in eight consecutive Premier League away games, producing six goals and four assists during the run.
Only three players have managed longer such streaks in the competition: Erling Haaland, Robin van Persie and Andrew Cole.
Yamal follows in Messi's footsteps
In Spain, Barcelona's teenage sensation Lamine Yamal once again stole the spotlight.
Barcelona beat Levante 4-2 to make it five wins from five in LaLiga, while Yamal recorded another brace. It was his third two-goal game in the club's first five league matches -- a feat previously achieved in the 21st century only by Lionel Messi, who did it in 2012-13.
Yamal's brilliance has been matched by Raphinha, who has contributed to nine goals in Barcelona's first five league games. His six goals and three assists represent Barcelona's best five-game individual tally since Messi in 2017-18.
Real Madrid also continued their strong start, beating Rayo Vallecano 4-1. Kylian Mbappe was once again at the heart of the action, scoring and assisting within the opening 17 minutes. He now has six LaLiga goals in five games, matching Karim Benzema's start to the 2021-22 season.

In Germany, Harry Kane moved within one goal of a remarkable Bundesliga milestone. His strike against SV Elversberg was his 99th Bundesliga goal in just 97 appearances.
One more goal would make him the fastest player to reach 100 Bundesliga goals, surpassing Dieter Müller's record of 129 games.
Bayern won 2-1, while Borussia Dortmund also maintained their perfect start with a third consecutive victory.
A new Argentine star emerges
Italy provided perhaps the weekend's most historic individual achievement.
Franco Mastantuono, on loan from Real Madrid, scored a hattrick in Fiorentina's 4-2 win over Venezia, becoming the youngest Argentine player to score a treble in Europe's top five leagues.
At just 19 years and 28 days, Mastantuono even surpassed the previous record held by Lionel Messi.
AC Milan also enjoyed a starring performance from Diego Moreira, who became the club's youngest player since at least 2004-05 to score multiple goals as a substitute in Serie A.
Ferran Torres matches Ibrahimovic's early PSG mark
In France, Ferran Torres continued his impressive start with PSG.
His goal against Brest gave him six Ligue 1 goals in his first five matches.
That puts him level with Zlatan Ibrahimovic's tally after the same number of games for PSG.
From established superstars to the next generation, the weekend offered another reminder that European football's biggest stories are being written by its biggest names.
