15th death anniversary of Al Musabbir Sadi Pommel

The 15th death anniversary of distinguished sports journalist and former general secretary of the Bangladesh Football Federation, Al Musabbir Sadi Pommel, is being observed today, May 20.

A senior member of the Bangladesh Sports Journalists Association, Pommel had a long and respected career in sports journalism, working for English-language newspapers including The Independent and The Daily Star. In 2009, he joined BFF as its first professional general secretary.

Pommel passed away on May 20, 2011, at the age of 44 after battling cancer.

During his journalism career, he also authored books on international cricket legends. In 1999, he wrote a book on Sachin Tendulkar titled Shachin Tendulkarer Gore Utha. Later, in January 2002, he published a biography on Brian Lara.
