Asian Games: Bangladesh begin hockey campaign with defeat

Bangladesh began their men’s hockey campaign at the Asian Games on a losing note, suffering a 5-0 defeat to South Korea in Japan today.

At Kawasaki Juko Stadium, South Korea took control of the match early and led 3-0 at half-time after scoring twice in the second quarter following a barren opening quarter.

Korea added one goal each in the third and fourth quarters to complete the rout, while Bangladesh failed to reduce the deficit despite their brief preparation and three preparatory matches against China.

Bangladesh will play their second match against Japan on September 22.
