5 former SUST students detained

Students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology’s (SUST) have been protesting since January 13, demanding the resignation of the provost of Begum Sirajunnesa Chowdhury Hall. Following police action on January 16, the students' protests evolved into a demand for the vice-chancellor's resignation. Can Buriganga be saved from all the polluters?

For the last 15 to 20 years, Buriganga River's water has been thick black like burnt engine oil. In 2000, the oxygen level in Buriganga’s water was 0.2%, and after 2019 that level went down to 0.0%. The tannery industry was moved to Savar to save the Buriganga, but now it is putting the Dhaleshwari River at risk.
