Dhaka-centred investment affecting national GDP
Almost eight percent of the country’s jobs are based in Dhaka City. This number rises to 40 percent when Gazipur, Narayanganj and other areas of greater Dhaka are included. Population density and Dhaka-centred investments are having a bad impact on the national economy. It’s also affecting urban development throughout the country. This loss equates to 6 – 10 percent loss of the GDP. Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies presented the figures at the Annual Conference on Development.

The house he lived in with his wife was dilapidated. The elderly couple was desperately in need of a new house. The volunteer traffic controller from Kurigram was overwhelmed emotionally after he received a new house.

April 2, 1971. There was curfew all over the country. By 11:30 pm, a military jeep arrived at Suresh Kumar Pande’s place in Rajshahi. Suresh came out hearing knocks on the door. A Pakistani soldier shot him while leaving after the conversation. Suresh was martyred.
