The government has formed a high-powered panel to review the widely discussed ordinances on revenue reform framed by the Prof Muhammad Yunus-led interim administration.

Although the authorities published the gazette notification to split the revenue board, the implementation has yet to be completed as bureaucrats at the Secretariat are divided over staffing approval.

The ordinance abolishing the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and splitting it into two entities—Revenue Policy and Revenue Management—does not adequately reflect the recommendations of the advisory committee, according to one of its members.

The government is set to complete the split of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) into two separate divisions by December this year.
