The AL chief said the BNP had called hartal on 382 days during the tenure of her government but now they are criticising the AL for calling hartal.

She said the government seized a huge rams haul in Chittagong recently but they did not take any action against those responsible for the arms smuggling.

Hasina said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has recently been adjudged the greatest among the 20 Bengalees of all times in an opinion poll conducted by the BBC. "It is the victory of the people of Bangladesh."

As many as 20 central and local AL leaders, including Layek Ali Biswas, Emdad Chowdhury, Col. (Rtd) Faruque Khan MP, Mukul Bose, Obaidul Quader, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim MP, Motia Chowdhury, Abdul Jalil MP, Tofail Ahmed, Amir Hossain Amu, Sajeda Chowdhury and Abdus Samad Azad also spoke.

Earlier, Sheikh Hasina along with the leaders of AL, Jubo League, Chhatra League and other front organisations, placed wreaths at the graveyard of Bangabandhu.
