Dr Nasim, also the first Asian, will assume the office as the 26th president for a period of two years at the 11th Congress to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2006.
He started his career as medical officer and worked as senior health and population consultant with the World Bank and other international agencies.
Dr Nasim is now working as health advisor to Canadian International Development Agency (Cida), Bangladesh.
He is an active member of the Public Health Association of Bangladesh and served as a member of WFPHA.
The federation is an international non-governmental organisation bringing health workers together for professional exchange and collaboration.
Founded in 1967, WFPHA enjoys official status with Who and maintains close ties with Unicef, Unfpa and other international organisations.
Its secretariat is situated in Washington DC with an office in Geneva.
