Nizami's remark protested
Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK), a human rights organisation, yesterday protested the remark of Jamaat-e-Islami Amir and Industry Minister Motiur Rahman Nizami about the Ahmadiyya community at a meeting with US Assistant Secretary for South Asia Christina Rocca.
The ASK, in a press release, termed the remark as 'instigating', and said it will increase the state of insecurity among the Ahmadiyya community.
"As the remark was made by a minister, the government cannot avoid its involvement if the members of Ahmadiyya community come under attack in future," said the release.
The ASK urged the government to ensure religious practice of all communities in line with the constitution and ensure security for all citizens without being involved in religious controversy.
Earlier at a meeting with Christina Rocca on Wednesday, Motiur Rahman Nizami said the Ahmadiyya community cannot claim themselves as Muslim.
