Asif Ali Zardari, the jailed husband of former Pakistan premier and PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto, has suggested a fresh general election in the country and the resignation of President Pervez Musharraf.

According to a report in the Dawn , Zardari said this while he was being produced in a court for a hearing. Zardari has been in jail for eight years with at least 15 cases pending against him.

Zardari renewed his party PPP's offer of a safe exit to Musharraf, the report said.
