Merry Christmas

Let us pray for peace and harmony
On the happy occasion of Christmas this year, we would like to extend our best wishes to all the members of the Christian faith and pray, along with them, for peace and harmony in the world. On an auspicious day like this, we would also like to acknowledge the contribution of all those belonging to the Christian community to the society in Bangladesh. They have contributed in their own way to the development of our society and culture for many years. We would particularly like to mention about their role in enhancing the quality of education in various parts of the country through the missionary schools they run.

By working selflessly towards the betterment of the environment that we live in, they have endeared themselves to the other communities. In fact their basic nature to live in harmony with other communities and adapt to other cultures have put them on a much higher platform of the society. And it is reflected in the way they receive praise and respect from the other communities for their contribution.

We would join our voices with the millions across the world observing Christmas, in praying for peace, harmony and brotherhood which had been eluding us for quite some time now. Let Christmas bring in tolerance, harmony and peace in the minds of all people, irrespective of their faiths. We hope the dialogues that have ensued between the members of Christian and other faiths in many countries would be the marking force for cohesion and tolerance. We must realise that building a peaceful world with no uncertainty and hatred is entirely in our hands. And that's what people all over the world should preach today. Let's eliminate all suspicions, misunderstandings, mistrusts and replace them with friendliness, tolerance and above all peace.

Merry Christmas to all.
