Known for several acclaimed performances throughout her career, the actress made her silver screen debut in Humayun Ahmed’s “Amar Ache Jol”. Among her most talked-about works remains “Poran”, which was also released during an Eid season.

The brutal killing of eight-year-old child Ramisa has sparked nationwide outrage, with waves of grief and protest spreading across the country and social media. Members of Bangladesh’s cultural community have also spoken out strongly, condemning the horrific crime and demanding swift justice.

Veteran actress Dolly Zahur has countless dramas and films under her name. The Ekushey Padak winning actress has acted in many iconic dramas and even till now the noted actress continues to act.

Alongside television and film, theatre remained a major part of her artistic life. She joined Aranyak Natyadal in 1992 and performed on stage for nearly three decades.

Instead, she says she has found peace in the life she chose. “I am satisfied with my life. I am genuinely happy.” Still, one regret remains. “My mother did not live long enough to see the beautiful part of my life,” she said quietly. “I could not keep her close to me for long enough. That is the one sorrow I still carry.”

This Eid, she appears in a seven-episode drama. She spoke to The Daily Star about her upcoming projects and the memories that Eid stirs in her.

The actor shared that the very first birthday wish came from his daughter shortly after midnight. “My daughter, Nazah, was the first to wish me this year. I was truly touched,” he said with a smile. “Then came wishes from my son and my wife.”

For years, countless television dramas and telefilms have been filmed inside the house. But on this particular day, the atmosphere carried a different emotional weight. The unit was shooting the Eid telefilm “Johora Begum-er Ichchapotro”, bringing together some of Bangladesh’s most celebrated performers under one roof.

Speaking to The Daily Star about Ataur Rahman, Mamunur Rashid said, “I have known him since before the independence of Bangladesh.

Tariq Anam Khan concluded, “I am saddened by his passing. But this is the way life is — one must leave eventually. Still, the encouragement he gave me will always remain a source of inspiration.”

One of the most successful and widely acclaimed productions on Dhaka’s stage was “Galileo”, directed by Ataur Rahman.

Concluding his reflections, he said, “One after another, the memories keep coming back to me. I pray for the peace of his soul. May Almighty Allah grant him Jannah.”

Concluding the conversation, the iconic actress spoke simply yet profoundly about her wishes for the future. “At this point in life, my greatest wish is to remain healthy and live peacefully,” she said. “I also pray for everyone’s good health and wellbeing.”
