Intekhab Dinar made his television debut with “Gor”, written by Gazi Rakayet and directed by Salahuddin Lavlu. The play drew considerable attention at the time, marking the beginning of a long career in television, theatre and, later, film and OTT.

The actor has since taken on a wide range of roles. He recently completed shooting for a new film, while two of his other films are awaiting release.

His upcoming film “Khalnayak”, directed by Vicky Zahed, was shot in Kolkata. Dinar says the film has elements that he believes will keep audiences curious.

“There are surprises in the new film. There is mystery too. The experience of shooting it was wonderful. I also got the opportunity to explore my character in depth,” he said.

Dinar has worked with Zahed before and describes him as a meticulous filmmaker.

“Vicky Zahed is a very organised director. He is calm and composed. He is as hardworking as he is talented. I have worked under his direction before. ‘Khalnayak’ is his first film,” he said.

The film also brings Dinar together with actor Shahiduzzaman Selim.

“What can I say about Selim bhai? Whenever I work with him, I learn something. He is someone I have immense trust in as an actor. He is a great artist, and I enjoy working with him. Acting becomes easier when he is my co-actor,” Dinar said.

Two other films, “Hangor” and “Nil Jochonay”, have completed shooting and are awaiting release.

“Hangor”, directed by Tanmoy Surjo, centres on the lives and struggles of people living in coastal areas. Dinar plays a coastal resident, a role he says required considerable preparation.

“The story of ‘Hangor’ is mainly about the lives and struggles of people in the coastal region. I play a coastal man, and I have never played a character like this before. I had to prepare extensively for the role. The shooting locations were also very different. Overall, I am happy with the work,” he said.

In Fakhrul Arefin’s “Nil Jochonay”, the actor plays a negative character and appears in a different look.

“My look in the film is completely different. Audiences will see me in a new look,” he said.

Despite playing numerous characters throughout his career, Dinar says he has no regrets about the roles he has taken on.

“No, I have no regrets. I consider myself fortunate. I believe that because I became an actor, I have been able to see many lives within one lifetime and immerse myself in the characters of many different people. I do not know whether it would have been possible to see life this way if I had not become an actor,” he said.

Dinar began his acting career on stage and spent many years performing with Nagarik Natya Sampradaya. He credits theatre for shaping his journey as an actor.

“Whatever I have achieved through acting, I have received it from the stage,” he said.

On television, Dinar is currently appearing in the serial “Chawa Pawa” on NTV and “Khushbu” on Deepto TV.

“‘Chawa Pawa’ is getting a good response. The story is about our own lives,” he said.
