Seven Dhaka-Riyadh flights cancelled after Saudi Arabia airport attack
At least seven flights from Dhaka to Riyadh were cancelled as of 1:00pm today following the suspension of operations at King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia after an attack on the facility.
Kawser Mahmud, assistant director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh's (CAAB) public relations department, confirmed the cancellations to The Daily Star.
The disruptions affected flights operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Saudi carriers.
Meanwhile, US-Bangla Airlines flight BS381, bound for Riyadh, was diverted to Muscat, Oman, yesterday before returning to Dhaka early this morning, according to flight-tracking data from Flightradar24.
Biman yesterday announced the suspension of its Dhaka-Riyadh-Dhaka flights BG339 and BG340 until further notice.
The airline advised passengers booked on the flights not to proceed to the airport, adding that revised schedules would be communicated after an assessment of the situation.
