BASIC Bank holds branch managers’ conference and business review meeting
BASIC Bank PLC held its “Managers Conference and Business Review Meeting 2026” on Saturday, at the Mukti Auditorium of the Biddut Bhaban in Dhaka.
Helal Ahmed Chowdhury, chairman of the bank, inaugurated the conference as the chief guest, according to a press release.
At the event, Helal said BASIC Bank was gradually recovering from a period of severe challenges, with deposits rising by around Tk 5,000 crore between January and September 2026, reflecting renewed customer confidence.
He urged officials to improve customer services, strengthen business performance, ensure prudent lending and expand Bangla QR services to accelerate digital transformation.
The chairman also called for intensified recovery of non-performing loans (NPLs), faster legal proceedings and strict compliance with regulations.
He emphasised good governance, transparency and accountability, urging branch managers to turn loss-making branches profitable.
Abu Md Mofazzal, managing director (current charge) of the bank, presided over the conference.
He emphasised the need for a coordinated approach to deposit mobilisation, loan recovery, prevention of new defaults and improvement of customer service.
He also called for greater professionalism, accountability and collective commitment to achieving the bank’s business objectives.
The conference reviewed the bank’s overall business performance and discussed key strategic priorities, including deposit mobilisation, loan disbursement and recovery, management of non-performing loans, digital banking expansion, import-export financing, remittance mobilisation and revenue growth.
Munshi Abdul Ahad, Sheikh Farid, Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal, Farooq Ahmed, Md Lutfur Rahman and Md Khairul Kabir, all directors of BASIC Bank, and Rup Ratan Pine, executive director of Bangladesh Bank and observer of BASIC Bank’s board, were also present as the special guest.
They provided necessary guidance to branch and sub-branch managers on achieving business targets, improving service delivery and strengthening the bank’s financial position.
Among others, Subhash Chandra Das and Md Hasan Imam, deputy managing directors; Md Ismail, Md Momenul Hoque, Md Nashir Uddin, Sumit Ranjan Nath, Md Ghulam Sayeed Khan, and Saidur Rahman Sohel, general managers, were also present at the conference.
