Govt sets FY27 export target at $55.3b

The government today set an export target of $55.3 billion for fiscal year 2026-27, aiming for 15 percent growth from last fiscal year's earnings.

It also set a service export target of $8.2 billion, 15 percent higher than last year's earnings.

Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir announced the targets at a press conference at the commerce ministry in Dhaka.

Domestic and international challenges were taken into account when setting the targets.

The minister expressed hope that exports would grow this fiscal year, as the government expects to sign a free trade agreement (FTA) with South Korea within the next few months.

He added that negotiations are also underway to sign FTAs with the European Union and several other major trading partners.
