BB, Dutch-Bangla hold Bangla QR awareness event at BAU

Bangladesh Bank, in association with Dutch-Bangla Bank PLC, organised a “Meet the Governor” programme on Bangla QR at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) in Mymensingh on Saturdayto raise awareness about digital payments.

BB Governor Md Mostaqur Rahman inaugurated the programme as the chief guest, , reads a press statement.

BAU Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) GM Mujibar Rahman and Dutch-Bangla Bank Managing Director and CEO Md Ahteshamul Haque Khan were present as special guests.

During the programme, the governor held an interactive discussion with teachers and students on various aspects of Bangla QR. He highlighted the role of Bangla QR in promoting secure, convenient and interoperable digital payments through a single QR code across banks, mobile financial services and other payment service providers.

He said Bangla QR was playing a vital role in advancing a cashless economy.

BAU VC Mujibar thanked the BB and the Dutch-Bangla Bank for organising the awareness programme, saying it would help raise awareness about digital payments among students and encourage greater adoption of digital financial services.

Dutch-Bangla Bank’s Ahteshamul said digital transactions save both time and money.

He emphasised that greater adoption of digital payments and a positive change in mindset would help accelerate Bangladesh’s journey towards a cashless economy.

The program introduced features, benefits, and an interoperable digital payment system of Bangla QR to the participants.

Teachers, students, officers, staff of BAU, and guests attended the session.
