FBHRO, Eastern University hold pre-budget roundtable on HR development expectations

The apex body of human resource professionals in Bangladesh, the Federation of Bangladesh Human Resource Organizations (FBHRO), jointly with Eastern University, organised a “Pre-Budget Roundtable Discussion” on the proposed National Fiscal Budget 2026-27 and human resource development expectations.

The event was held on May 22 at Happy Arcade in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, with the participation of policymakers, academicians, HR professionals, corporate leaders and development experts.

Zonayed Saki, state minister for planning, attended the programme as the chief guest, according to a press release.

In his speech, he emphasised the importance of developing skilled human resources for sustainable economic growth and highlighted the necessity of an employment-oriented national budget.

The session was chaired by Farid A Sobhan. The keynote paper was presented by Md. Musharof Hossain. He called for effective policy initiatives in the national budget focusing on human resource development, skill enhancement, future workforce readiness, technology-driven education and employment expansion.

Special guests and speakers at the programme included Barrister Safayet Mohammad Raju, guest speaker; Abul Quasem Haider, speaker; Nilufer Ahmed Karim, speaker; Moinuddin Chowdhury, moderator of the session; Md. Kamruzzaman Sabuj, convener of the programme; and M Shafaq Hussain, co-convener.

The participants emphasised increasing budget allocation for human resource development, youth skill development, women’s employment, industry-academia collaboration, technology-based employment generation, entrepreneurship development and investment in training initiatives.

The speakers said Bangladesh must develop a skilled, technology-driven and competitive workforce to face the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the AI-driven future job market. They stressed that there was no alternative to prioritising human resource development in the national budget.
