MA Khan elected chairman of Mercantile Bank

MA Khan Belal has been elected chairman of the board of directors of Mercantile Bank PLC.

According to a press release, he was elected to the post during the bank’s 490th board meeting, held on July 30 at its head office. Prior to his election, he had served as the chairman of the executive committee of the bank.

Belal, who is currently serving as the chairman of Samrat Group of Companies, is an established businessman in the country with extensive experience across trade, industry, shipping and banking. He is also the elected president of Noakhali Zilla Samiti.

Beyond his business ventures, he has been recognized for his contributions to society through various social welfare initiatives, education, healthcare and social development activities.

Additionally, he is the founder of several schools, madrasas, mosques and other socio-cultural organizations in Begumganj.
