India starts installing 70,000 cooking stoves in Bangladesh

India has begun installation of 70,000 improved cooking stoves in eight upazilas of Bangladesh to help capacity building and adaptation in response to the challenge of climate change.

Indian High Commissioner Pankaj Saran and Bangladesh's environment ministry Secretary Kamal Uddin Ahmed on Monday inaugurated the project, funded by the India Endowment for Climate Change at a cost of Rs. 5 crore, said a press release.

The two countries signed a memorandum of understanding during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bangladesh on June 6-7 in this regard.
