Man held with 9.5kg of gold at Ctg airport

Customs Intelligence officials seized 82 gold bars, weighing 9.5kg, worth around Tk 4.5 crore from a man at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong yesterday evening.

Md Saiful Alam, 46, of Chittagong's Raozan, arrived at the airport from Muscat by a flight of Oman Air.

Acting on a tip-off, the officials intercepted him around 6:40pm while he was crossing customs lounge area on completion of immigration formalities.

After searching his body, they found the gold bars kept in two hidden clothes-made belts tied to his waist, said officials.
