Ritwik Ghatak retrospective opens

"Ritwik Ghatak Retrospective", a six-day programme on celebrated filmmaker Ritwik Kumar Ghatak is running at the main auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum, jointly arranged by the museum and Chalacchitram Film Society.

Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor inaugurated the programme as chief guest on Friday evening, while Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Harsh Vardhan Shringla, and Ritwik Ghatak's daughter Samhita Ghatak were the special guests. "I felt a need to hold a retrospective on my father, as he hailed from Bangladesh and maintained a connection with this land till his death. It has been over four decades since he last came here for 'Titas Ekti Nodir Naam'," said Samhita Ghatak.

Ritwik's iconic film "Meghe Dhaka Tara" was screened at the programme.

Ritwik's other popular films including "Nagorik", "Ustad Alauddin Khan", "Bari Theke Paliye", "Fear", "Komol Gandhar", "Amar Lenin", "Subornorekha", "Titas Ekti Nodir Naam", "Durbar Goti Padma" and "Jukti, Tokko ar Goppo", will be screened from February 13-16 everyday at 4:00pm and 6:30pm.

Three films made on the iconic filmmaker will also be screened on the closing day of the festival.
