Shamim Akhter passes away

Shamim Akhter Rashid, former member of Rangamati Parbatya Zila Parishad, passed away yesterday at a hospital in Vellore, India, says a press release.

She left behind her daughter Sara Rashid, son Mostafa Rashid Rony and son-in-law Rabiul Alam Munna.

A member of Rangamati district Awami League, Shamim Akhter, wife of late Abdul Rashid, had been suffering from lung cancer for a long time.

She was an editor of the local daily Parbotto Barta.

Her husband, who was a senate member of Chittagong University,    was also the editor and publisher of the daily, the press release added.
