By-polls to Moulvibazar JS seat Dec 8

The by-election in the Moulvibazar-3 constituency will be held on December 8, the Election Commission (EC) announced yesterday.

The seat fell vacant following the death of Social Welfare Minister Syed Mohsin Ali.

Voting will be held on December 8 while the date for filing nomination papers is November 11. Nomination papers will be scrutinised on November 14 and aspirants can withdraw from the race by November 22.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakib Uddin Ahmad announced the election schedule yesterday, said Ezharul Haque, regional election officer in Sylhet.

Mohsin Ali died on September 14 while under treatment in a Singapore hospital.
