Schoolgirl abducted from Dhaka rescued in Jamalpur
Police rescued a schoolgirl from bus stand area in Bakshiganj upazila of the district yesterday, seven days into her abduction from Ashulia area on the outskirts of the capital.
The 13-year-old girl of Dandabor area in Ashulia, is a Class VII student at local Oxford School.
Quoting the victim's family members, police said a masked gang kidnapped the girl while she was returning home from her school on October 15.
Victim's father Manju Mia lodged a general diary (GD) with Ashulia Police Station on October 18.
On Wednesday night, the girl tactfully managed a mobile phone and informed her father that the kidnappers confined her somewhere in Dewanganj upazila of Jamalpur.
On information, Bakshiganj police raided different areas in the upazila and its adjacent Dewanganj upazila, but in vain.
Later, on suspicion, police searched a Dhaka-bound passenger bus of 'Nabil Paribahan' in the bus stand area around 11:00am and rescued the girl from the bus, said Mosharraf Hossain, sub-inspector of Baksiganj Police Station.
