Two murder case accused held while crossing border
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Wednesday night handed over two suspected criminals to Bangladeshi authorities at Ghiba border under Benapole Port Police Station, hours after their detention from the border the same evening.
Col BK Pande, commanding officer of BSF at Benapole, hander over the two fugitive criminals--Amirul Islam, 45, and Saiful Islam, 40, of Kagajpukur area in Benapole--to its Bangladeshi counterpart Lt Col Jahangir Hossain, commanding officer of BGB 26 Battalion at a flag meeting on around 9:30pm.
Apurbo Hasan, officer-in-charge of Benapole Police Station, said the two are the main accused in a case filed with the police station for killing Samad, a shopkeeper at Kagajpukur Bazar, on Tuesday night.
BSF members detained the two while they were crossing the border illegally around 7:30pm, the OC said.
Amirul, head of a local notorious gang, and his close aide Saiful are accused in a number of cases, including for murder of Zillur Rahman Mintu, former president of Jessore district unit of BCL, in 2014 and Samad on Tuesday, the OC added.
BGB later handed them over to Benapole Port Police Station the same night.
