Emmy-winning Turkish drama ‘Kara Sevda’ comes to Deepto TV in Bengali
Turkish hit drama series “Kara Sevda” is coming to Bangladesh in a Bengali-dubbed version titled “Ananta Bhalobasha”, with the series beginning its run on Deepto TV today.
The Bengali adaptation will air on Deepto TV, Deepto Play and the channel’s digital platforms from Saturday to Thursday at 8:30pm.
Originally broadcast on Turkey’s Star TV from 2015 to 2017, “Kara Sevda” stars Burak Özçivit, Neslihan Atagül and Kaan Urgancıoğlu in the lead roles. The series became an international success and was broadcast in more than 110 countries. It also made history in 2017 as the first Turkish series to win an International Emmy, taking home the award for Best Telenovela at the 45th International Emmy Awards.
The story centres on Kemal Soydere, a young man from a middle-class family, and Nihan Sezin, an independent-minded artist from a wealthy family. Despite the social divide between them, the two fall in love.
Their relationship is complicated by Emir Kozcuoğlu, a powerful businessman who is determined to have Nihan. After becoming involved in a conspiracy surrounding her brother, Nihan is forced to marry Emir to protect him from a murder charge, while Kemal leaves the city for work.
Years later, Kemal returns as a successful businessman and begins uncovering the secrets surrounding Nihan’s life and the circumstances that drove them apart. Their reunion sets off a struggle between love, revenge and the web of Emir’s schemes.
Özçivit plays Kemal, Atagül portrays Nihan, while Urgancıoğlu plays Emir.
In the Bengali version, Shafiqul Islam, Rubaiya Matin Gity and Morshed Siddique have lent their voices to the three central characters respectively.
Under the supervision of Mahmudul Hasan Murad, Deepto TV’s in-house dialogue-writing team handled the translation, adaptation and editing of the Bengali dialogue.
