Manikganj hosts cultural programme commemorating Rabindranath Tagore

A cultural programme featuring music, dance and recitation was held in Manikganj on Sunday (August 9) to commemorate the death anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.

The programme was held at the auditorium of the Manikganj District Shilpakala Academy and continued until 8 pm. As the evening set in, the venue came alive with performances celebrating Tagore’s literary and musical works. Artistes performed Rabindra Sangeet, presented dance performances and recited his poems. The performances offered the audience an opportunity to revisit the poet’s timeless contributions to music, literature and culture.

The event was organised by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, managed by the District Shilpakala Academy and supported by the district administration.

Deputy Commissioner Nazmun Ara Sultana attended the function as the chief guest. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Mohammad Ali, Additional Deputy Magistrate Quamrul Hasan, and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development and Human Resource Management) Khayrul Islam, among others, were present.

The guests said Rabindranath’s death anniversary is not only a day to remember the poet but also an opportunity to reconnect with his contribution to Bengali literature, music and culture.


The programme was held under the supervision of District Cultural Officer Mst Mokhlesa Hilali. A large number of people from different professions attended the event.
