Star Cineplex marks 22 years with buy-one-get-one-free ticket offer
Star Cineplex is celebrating its 22nd anniversary today (October 8) with a special offer for moviegoers, allowing them to get a free ticket with the purchase of another.
According to a press release, the offer will be available at all Star Cineplex branches for any film screening on Thursday. However, tickets must be purchased directly from the counters to qualify for the offer.
The promotion will remain valid for October 8 only.
The multiplex chain has also announced another opportunity for audiences to win a free movie voucher. Viewers can participate by sharing their favourite memories of watching films at Star Cineplex on its official Facebook page.
Expressing gratitude to audiences on the occasion, Star Cineplex spokesperson Mesbah Uddin Ahmed said, “This journey has undoubtedly been a joyful one. Many new developments come with time, but their true value is realised when people embrace them. The love of our audiences has been the driving force behind Star Cineplex’s success. We are immensely grateful to them for being part of this journey.”
He also expressed his hopes for the future of Bangladeshi cinema.
“Audiences are always eager to watch good films. Rather than relying solely on foreign productions, we want quality films to be made regularly in our country. We hope to see cinema halls consistently filled with audiences eager to watch Bangladeshi films,” he said.
Star Cineplex began its journey on October 8, 2004, as Bangladesh’s first multiplex cinema hall, introducing audiences to a modern moviegoing experience.
With spacious auditoriums, modern sound systems and an improved viewing environment, the multiplex brought significant changes to the country’s cinema exhibition industry. It also helped revive the culture of families visiting cinemas together.
Alongside Bangladeshi productions, Star Cineplex began screening Hollywood films on their international release dates, giving local audiences greater access to international cinema.
Over the years, the multiplex has witnessed considerable audience demand, with moviegoers sometimes queuing from early morning to purchase tickets. On several occasions, tickets for anticipated releases have sold out online a week before their screenings.
Star Cineplex currently operates branches at Bashundhara City Shopping Mall, Shimanto Shambhar in Dhanmondi, SKS Tower in Mohakhali, the Military Museum, Sony Square in Mirpur and Centrepoint in Uttara.
It also has a branch at Shimanto Tower in Narayanganj and two branches in Chattogram, at Bali Arcade and Finlay Square.
According to the press release, preparations are also under way to open new branches in Bogura and Rajshahi this year.
