Wrestling star Pac aka Neville tragically dies a day after final match
Professional wrestler Benjamin Satterley, widely known as Pac in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and Neville during his time in WWE, has died at the age of 40.
AEW announced Satterley’s death on Sunday night but did not disclose the cause of death or provide details about the circumstances surrounding his passing.
“AEW is saddened to announce the passing of Benjamin Satterley, aka Pac,” the promotion said in a statement. “A native of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Satterley began his wrestling career in 2004 and went on to perform for wrestling organisations all over the world, captivating fans with innovative high-flying moves and incredible in-ring ability.”
Satterley joined AEW in 2019 and went on to win multiple championships, while also competing in several of the promotion’s most memorable matches, according to AEW.
His death came just days after his final wrestling appearance. Satterley competed at AEW All Out in Chicago on September 26, where he challenged Andrade El Idolo for the AEW National Championship. Andrade retained the title after countering Pac’s Brutalizer submission attempt into a pin.
No confirmed information has been released regarding the cause or circumstances of Satterley’s death.
Born in Newcastle upon Tyne on August 22, 1986, Satterley began his professional wrestling career in 2004. He made a name for himself on the British independent circuit before taking his career overseas, including a prominent stint with Japan’s Dragon Gate promotion.
Satterley joined WWE in 2012 and was introduced to NXT audiences as Adrian Neville. He quickly emerged as one of the division’s leading performers, winning the NXT Tag Team Championship before claiming the NXT Championship in 2014.
His NXT title reign lasted 286 days, from February to December 2014. Known for his spectacular aerial manoeuvres, Neville was nicknamed “The Man Gravity Forgot”. His signature move, the “Red Arrow”, a 450-degree splash performed from the top rope, became one of his most recognisable moves.
Neville made the transition to WWE’s main roster in 2015 and later became a prominent figure in the company’s cruiserweight division. He won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship twice and was subsequently billed as the “King of the Cruiserweights”.
Following his departure from WWE in 2018, Satterley returned to the Pac name and resumed his international career, including another stint with Dragon Gate. He became one of AEW’s early major signings after joining the promotion in 2019.
During his AEW career, Pac became the inaugural AEW All-Atlantic Champion, with the title later renamed the AEW International Championship. He also won the AEW World Trios Championship alongside Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix as part of Death Triangle, and later became associated with the Death Riders.
Over a career spanning more than two decades, Satterley established himself as one of professional wrestling’s notable high-flying performers. His athleticism, aerial offence and risk-taking style took him across wrestling circuits in Britain, Japan, the United States and other international markets before he became a prominent name in WWE and AEW.
