MTV VMA awards 2026: Madonna dominates with seven wins
Madonna emerged as the biggest winner at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, taking home seven trophies at the ceremony held Monday (IST) at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
The pop icon, who led this year’s nominations with 13 nods, won Artist of the Year and Best Collaboration for “Bring Your Love”, her collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter. She also picked up Best Dance, Best Cinematography, Best Choreography, Best Long Form Video and Best Album, with all but the collaboration award recognising her project “Confessions II – The Film”.
However, Madonna missed out on the night’s top honour, with Taylor Swift winning Video of the Year for “The Fate of Ophelia”.
Swift, who was the second-most nominated artist with 11 nods, also won Best Direction for “Opalite”. She was additionally honoured with the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honors, recognising her work as both an artist and director of her music videos.
Carpenter won Best Editing for “House Tour” and shared the Best Collaboration award with Madonna for “Bring Your Love”. The two singers appeared on stage together to accept the trophy.
Among the other major winners, BTS won Song of the Year for “Swim”, Best K-Pop and Best Group.
Sienna Spiro was named Best New Artist, while LISA won Best Pop for “Dream” featuring Kentaro Sakaguchi. Cardi B featuring Kehlani took home Best Hip-Hop for “Safe”, and Bruno Mars won Best R&B for “I Just Might”.
