‘DeSu 7’ marks Anirban Bhattacharya’s return to the screen

Although West Bengal film “DeSu 7” centres on the pairing of Dev and Shubhashree Ganguly, actor Anirban Bhattacharya has emerged as one of the biggest talking points following the release of the film’s promotional glimpses.

While much of the attention surrounding the film has focused on the reunion of the Dev-Shubhashree pair, Anirban has generated considerable interest with his appearance as the character Khoka. His villainous look, featuring reddish-golden hair and red-tinted glasses, has particularly caught the attention of audiences.

According to Sangbad Pratidin, Dev had been making efforts for nearly a year to bring Anirban back to the Tollywood screen. The actor is now returning to films with “DeSu 7” after a prolonged absence.

Anirban had remained away from screen work for around a year amid the dispute between the Directors' Guild and the Federation of Cine Technicians & Workers of Eastern India. Actors Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Dev had spoken out and made efforts to create work opportunities for him, but those attempts had not yielded results.

Speaking about the lack of acting offers towards the end of last year, Anirban had said, “I have not received any offers for work. Since acting in ‘Raghu Dakat’, I have not had any other acting work in hand.”

He had also expressed concern about what it would mean if the situation continued for several more months.

Anirban had reportedly faced difficulties even while attempting to make a new music video for his band, Huliganism.

Recalling a conversation with Anirban during that period, Dev said, “Anirban called me one day. He told me, ‘I am alive, brother.’ I told him, ‘Brother, I won't let you die. Not on the streets, nor from hunger. Just give me a month.’”

Dev also described Anirban as “super talented” and said he considers the actor an asset to the industry.

“DeSu 7” marks another significant milestone for Dev, who is making his directorial debut with the film while also serving as its producer and lead actor.

Dev has described the film as more than a love story, saying it will combine action and drama.

The film also marks the return of Dev and Shubhashree Ganguly as an on-screen pair after a long gap. The two previously worked together in several successful films and were once romantically linked.

With Anirban's return adding another layer of interest, “DeSu 7” has become one of the more anticipated upcoming releases in Tollywood.
