TV channels to observe Tagore’s death anniversary with special programmes

Today marks the 85th death anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, whose timeless literary and artistic legacy continues to inspire generations. To commemorate his unparalleled contributions to literature, music and the arts, several television channels have arranged special programming in honour of the bard.

Channel i

At 3:05pm, Channel i will air the Bangla film "Shasti", directed by Chashi Nazrul Islam and written by Mamtazuddin Ahmed. Released in 2004, the film was the first cinematic adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore's literary works in Bangladesh. The cast includes Ilias Kanchan, Champa, Riaz, Purnima, Shahidul Alam Sachchu, ATM Shamsuzzaman and Nasrin.

At 12:00pm, viewers can watch "Megher Kole Rod Heseche", a musical programme featuring songs written by Tagore, performed by Anandi Ghosh, Ramiza Hasan, Din Islam Imran, Ariba Zaman and Bidyastuti Singh.

At 5:30pm, the channel will present "Robir Kiron", a dramatic interpretation of selected poems by the bard, performed by the young members of Kalparekha.

At 10:00pm, Duronto TV will broadcast the short films "Madho" and "Dakghar". "Madho" is directed by Sumana Siddiqui, while "Dakghar" is directed by Lucy Tripti Gomez.
