Gal Gadot’s film banned in Kuwait
Kuwait has banned the screening of Israeli actress Gal Gadot's new film "Death on the Nile" on Sunday.
Social media users in Kuwait demanded that the film be banned, citing Gadot's praise of the Israeli army and her criticism of the Palestinian Islamic movement Hamas during the 2014 war in Gaza, according to reports by Kuwait's Al-Qabas newspaper.
The 2014 Gaza War led to the deaths of 2251 people, most of whom were civilians, died from the Palestine side and 74 from the Israel side, most of whom were soldiers.
The "Wonder Woman" actress faced backlash for praising the Israeli army, while criticising Hamas for the war that broke out in 2014. Gal Gadot has also been under fire for serving her mandatory service in the Israeli army.
Kuwait also banned the 2017 film that brought Gadot international acclaim, "Wonder Woman". Lebanon, Qatar, and Tunisia also banned the film, which grossed over $800 million at the global box office.
