‘Nana gave me 25 paisa as Eidi’
Bollywood superstar Nawazuddin Siddiqui's mother's house was in a remote village. They used to go home on Eid every year.
Outside the house, his maternal grandfather used to lie down to rest. ""He used to give me 25 paisa, and told me not to tell anyone," says Nawaz. "He said the same thing to all the children in the area, and we happily obliged. We were very happy with 25 to 50 paisa."
'Heropanti 2' was released in India on Friday on the occasion of the holy Eid al-Fitr. Directed by Ahmed Khan, the film features Tiger Shroff and Tara Sutaria. Nawaz will be seen in an exceptional role in this film.
In a chat with the daily Prothom Alo at Sajid Nadiadwala's residence, Nawazuddin Siddiqui said that for a long time, he wanted to play a character like 'Laila', a male villain who possesses a feminine spirit.
Once upon a time, the actor had to live on biscuits. Now, he has a palace-like house in Mumbai.
Even today, money is meaningless to him. "There is no point in running after money," said the actor. "Make yourself worthy, money will follow you one day. I love movies, but I never do them for money. I didn't get paid for Manto. If a similar film comes along, I will work again without pay.'
