‘National Film Awardees aren’t judged on the basis of fame’
After the announcement of the National Film Award winners, fans of Shakib Khan reacted on Siam Ahmed's win in the Best Actor category recently.
They claimed that due to actor Riaz being one of the jury members, he was biased. Thus, instead of selecting Shakib Khan for the film "Bir", they went with Siam Ahmed for "Bishwoshundori".
On this issue, Riaz spoke to The Daily Star.
"I want to make a few things clear. The awardees are not judged on the basis of fame, the jury board decides on the basis of acting capabilities of the artistes, performances and overall involvement of the characters in the films," he asserted.
The actor also said that the board members come up with the result together. A single jury member cannot take decisions alone.
"Every year, we face criticism surrounding Nation Film Awards. Honestly, we don't have much to say about this," he shared.
"However, artistes should always be honest and truthful."
