Noted Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr is collaborating with HBO Max for two streaming series set in the Sherlock Holmes universe.

According to reports, he is an executive producer on the projects, along with his wife, Team Downey's Susan Downey, Amanda Burrell, and Wigram Productions' Lionel Wigram, who produced the films, "Sherlock Holmes" (2009), and "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" (2011), starring Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law.

There is no word on if Robert Downey Jr will reprise his role as the titular detective, but both shows are in the early stages of development. They will revolve around characters that have not been introduced yet.

The plan is for the characters to be part of the much-awaited third installment of the feature franchise. Originally slated for December 2020 release that was then pushed to December 2021, the third film has been delayed by the pandemic and currently has no new release date.
