Shuvoo is very supportive as a co-star: Oishee

Zahid Akbar

The shooting of the movie, "Noor", directed by Raihan Rafi, started in Pabna from today. Miss World Bangladesh Jannatul Ferdous Oishee is set to star opposite popular actor Arifin Shuvoo in the upcoming film. Oishee talks to The Daily Star over the phone from the sets of "Noor."

How were you cast for this film?

I was informed by my peers from the production team of "Noor" that they are looking to organise auditions. I gave an audition, and was selected to play the female lead.

In fact, I was signed for this film about a month ago, under a non-disclosure agreement.

Film auditions are seldom seen in the Bangladeshi film industry. How do you feel about this issue?

The makers of "Noor" prioritised auditions from the beginning, and that is how I got this opportunity. My auditioning dates were confirmed after Eid-Ul-Azha.

Auditioning for roles leaves the actors with self-contentment and confidence, as they go through a thorough process. Being able to secure the role in "Noor" on the basis of my acting makes me feel more confident while I am in front of the camera now.

What aspects do you bear in mind while selecting scripts?

Good storylines always capture my attention as an actress. The quality of the film is determined by the choice of its maker. So, I always try to work with good directors.

How has the experience of working with Arifin Shuvoo been for you?

I had the privilege of working with Arifin Shuvoo in my debut film "Mission Extreme", and this is the second time that we have been paired together. He is very supportive and cooperative. I hope that we win over the audience with our work.

Is this the first time you are shooting amidst the coronavirus pandemic?

I had partly shot for "Mission Extreme" during the pandemic. "Noor" is my first film after the lockdowns, and we hope to finish the shoot in 20 days.
