Zayed Khan was elected the General Secretary of the Film Artistes' Association, held on January 28. He defeated his opponent Nipun by 13 votes. Challenging the result, Nipun appealed to re-count the votes. Even after that, Zayed remained undefeated.

However, before he could take the oath, on February 5, the Chairman of the appeal board, Sohanur Rahman Sohan, announced Nipun as the unopposed General Secretary.
Zayed sought help from the High Court and took legal action on February 7.

The High Court on last Wednesday validated Zayed's position in the association to remain as the General Secretary, and declaring Nipun's win as illegal.
Judges Mamnun Rahman and Khandakar Diliruzzaman from High Court bench have announced this judgement.

Lawyers Ahsanul Karim and Nahid Sultana Juthi pronounced the verdict in Zayed's favour.
Senior lawyer Rokon Uddin Mahmud was in Nipun's favour. While on state's behalf Deputy  Attorney General Bipul Bagmar and associate Attorney Genral Selim Azad were present.

Today at 4:30 pm, Zayed took his oath as the official General Secretary until the next term. The newly elected President Ilias Kanchan presided over the ceremony.
Vice president Dipjol, Shuchorita, Aruna Biswas, Anjana and Joy Chowdhury also participated at the event.

"Since the validation came from the High Court, we have nothing to say in this case, however, earlier, we thought Nipun was the legal General Secretary, therefore I presided over the oath- taking ceremony," informs Ilias Kanchan.
