The health directorate yesterday ordered seven private hospitals, diagnostic centres, and a blood bank in the capital to close down all activities after it found widespread anomalies in those establishments during a recent inspection.

Authorities of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) suspended Bishu Dey, a health staffer of Mostafa Hakim Maternity Hospital, which is run by CCC, for his alleged connection with misappropriating Covid-19 vaccines and "vaccinating people at home in exchange for money".

A consignment of 17 lakh Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine doses, under the COVAX facility, reached Dhaka this evening from China.
