An HSC examinee died yesterday after an excavator hit a ride-sharing motorcycle she was on in Chattogram’s Patenga.

The deceased was identified as Nafisa Nawal, 18, a student of CMP School and College, said SI Nurul Alam Ashik, in-charge of the Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police box.

Nafisa was heading to Govt Hazi Mohammad Mohsin College on a motorcycle to sit for her ICT examination, her father, Mamun Miah, told The Daily Star.

“Near the Navy Hospital gate, an excavator hit the motorcycle, throwing Nafisa on the road, leaving her critically injured,” he said, adding that she was his only daughter.

Locals rescued Nafisa and rushed her to CMCH, where doctors declared her dead on arrival at around 10:30am.

The HSC examinations under the Chattogram Education Board were postponed midway through the schedule in July due to flooding and resumed on August 20. Examinations that could not be held at the time are now being conducted.
