Bangladesh incurred losses amounting to Tk 41,200 crore due to floods and cyclones between 2021 and 2025, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu said yesterday.

Responding to a question from reserved-seat MP Subikunnahar in parliament, the minister said floods caused losses worth Tk 29,277 crore, while cyclones accounted for the rest.

According to the Department of Disaster Management, a total of 249 people died in floods and cyclones during the period. Of them, 190 died in floods and 59 in cyclones.

The minister said a total of 1,77,34,532 people were affected by the disasters, including 1,68,60,326 by floods and the remainder by cyclones.
