15.8 lakh unintended pregnancies last year

A sharp decline in the effectiveness of the Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP) programme has left Bangladesh unable to prevent an estimated 15.8 lakh unintended pregnancies and 9 lakh abortions in 2025 compared with the 2022 baseline, according to figures presented at a roundtable yesterday.
