Girl loses teeth in youth’s attack in Barguna

A fifth-grade girl lost three front teeth and suffered damage to two others after a youth allegedly beat her at Gabtali Govt Primary School in Betagi upazila of Barguna on Monday.

The girl was being treated at Barguna General Hospital.

According to the girl and locals, Faisal had allegedly peeped at her while she was using the school washroom several days earlier. After she informed her family, Faisal threatened her.

After classes ended on Monday, Faisal allegedly grabbed the girl and tried to pull her away. Later, he slapped and kicked her before fleeing.

Nani Gopal Malakar, a teacher, said Faisal was roaming around the school with a stick.

Betagi Police Station OC Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid Howlader said police detained Faisal’s mother, Shirin Begum, and were trying to arrest him. The victim’s mother filed a case Monday night.
