A bill was placed in parliament today with a provision of allowing the government to form an ad-hoc committee for a maximum one-year tenure to arrange the bar council election in an unusual situation.

The government has sent Additional Deputy Inspector General (CID) Sheikh Omar Faruque to retirement, considering “public interest”.

An inter-ministerial meeting will be held on Sunday to review whether the situation is conducive for reopening schools and colleges.
