Sobhana Mostary struck her maiden WODI century as Bangladesh produced a record-breaking batting performance against Australia in the second WODI at Allan Border Field in Brisbane on Sunday.

The right-hander reached three figures in the 45th over with a single off Annabel Sutherland, becoming the first Bangladesh batter to score an WODI century against Australia. She also became only the fourth Bangladesh batter to register an WODI hundred.

Mostary arrived at the crease with Bangladesh in deep trouble at eight for three but turned the innings around with a commanding 118 off 134 deliveries, hitting 18 fours before falling in the 48th over while looking to accelerate.

Captain Nigar Sultana Joty provided superb support, and the pair stitched together a 195-run fourth-wicket stand -- the highest partnership for any wicket in women’s WODIs against Australia. It was also Bangladesh’s highest partnership for any wicket in women’s ODIs, surpassing the 152-run stand between Sharmin Akhter and Joty against Thailand earlier this year.

Mostary’s 118 was also Bangladesh’s highest individual score in women’s ODIs, eclipsing Fargana Haque’s 107 against India in 2022.

Joty remained unbeaten on 74 off 114 deliveries, striking seven fours, as Bangladesh finished on 220 for six — their highest total against Australia in women’s ODIs.

Megan Schutt was Australia’s most successful bowler, claiming four wickets for 36 runs.
