Sell-out opening day, Darwin shock set stage for Mackay’s first-ever Test

Mackay is preparing to host its first-ever Test match, with Australia and Bangladesh meeting in the second and final Test of the series from August 22 to 26 -- an occasion that has gained extra significance after Bangladesh’s sensational nine-wicket victory in the opening Test in Darwin.

The Great Barrier Reef Arena has already seen strong demand for the historic fixture, with tickets for day one sold out. Tickets for days two to four remain available as Australia fight to level the series, while Bangladesh need only a draw to seal a series victory.

Play is scheduled to begin at 10:00am local time (6pm Bangladesh time) each day.

The Queensland city, known for its natural attractions, lively events calendar and reputation as a premier recreational fishing destination, will offer visiting fans plenty to experience beyond the cricket.

For Australia, the match is an opportunity to respond to their setback in Darwin. For Bangladesh, it is a chance to build on their first Test victory on Australian soil -- arguably their biggest Test triumph to date.
