Tabith sits with Abahani, Brothers officials after matches postponed

The Federation Cup kicked off in Gopalganj on Tuesday with Fortis FC playing out a 1-1 draw against Fakirerpool YMC, while the two other scheduled matches involving Abahani and Brothers Union were postponed.

Both Abahani and Brothers had applied to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) on Monday seeking postponement of their matches. They also requested meetings with BFF president Tabith Awal, who today sat with representatives of both clubs.

It has been learnt that Brothers' match has been rescheduled for Wednesday, while Abahani's fixture has been deferred to Thursday.

Abahani football manager Shahid Hossain Swapan, who represented the club at the meeting with Tabith, told The Daily Star that they had requested the federation to reschedule their next league match until after Mohammedan Sporting Club play their first league fixture.

"The BFF president has assured us that he will take the matter into consideration," Swapan said.

Brothers manager Amer Khan said they had also reiterated their stance that all clubs should be treated equally.
