Bangabandhu's 28th Death Anniversary Special
'It is the duty...'
It is the duty of the law ministry and the supreme judiciary to see to it that no trial should remain incomplete in the last appeal stage on the plea that the judges are embarrassed or for any other reason.
The ministry and the head of the judiciary should make it certain that justice can be dispensed freely and quickly.
I don't want to say whether some person is guilty or not, but even those who are accused should be entitled to have the appeal disposed of quickly as it is a mental torture for them to remain under trial for a long time.
Justice delayed is justice denied."
Dr M Zahir is Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh.
