Case Against Babul
SC asks govt to file regular leave to appeal by Saturday
The Supreme Court yesterday asked the government to file a regular leave to appeal by Saturday against the High Court order that had granted bail to Nurul Islam Babul, a business tycoon, in a murder case.
A four-member bench headed by Chief Justice Syed J R Mudassir Husain passed the order after hearing both sides.
Babul, also owner of leading Bangla daily Jugantor, was arrested on March 20 in connection with the murder of a dredging worker at Badda in September last year.
Later he was shown arrested in an attempt-to-rape case.
